Our L’Arche Model

Are you looking for a home and community for yourself or for a loved one? At L’Arche Atlanta, we are helping adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) experience mutually-transforming relationships through a unique model of care where assistants and core members share life together. Our L’Arche homes are places of welcome, celebration and inclusion. Those who live there commit to being active participants in creating a healthy home that supports everyone.

Becoming A Residential Core Member

Eligibility

L’Arche Atlanta welcomes adults with I/DD (core members) who require a broad range of supports. We do not discriminate based on sex or gender, race, age, disability, sexual orientation, financial background, religious beliefs, or cultural practices. Please be aware that openings tend to be infrequent as most core members decide to live in L’Arche for life.

For a person to be eligible to be welcomed into L’Arche Atlanta, the following criteria must be met:
  • The candidate must have a current clinical diagnosis of intellectual or developmental disability.
  • The candidate must be over the age of 21.
  • The candidate must have a NOW/COMP Medicaid Waiver.
  • The candidate must be willing to live in an intentional community home
  • The candidate must be supportive of L’Arche Atlanta’s mission.

Taking the Next Step.

Living at L’Arche is made possible through our Medicaid programs that fund the daily supports core members receive. To be eligible, you must have a NOW/COMP waiver.

Individuals interesting in living at L’Arche should complete the Core Member Inquiry Form.  We will accept applications on an ongoing basis. We do not have a first-come-first-served waiting list but should there be an opening in a L’Arche home, we will contact those who have completed an inquiry form. This may be in several months or it may be several years, but we do store them indefinitely. There is a lengthy interview process to make sure L’Arche is a good fit for all involved!

There is no need to contact L’Arche for opening updates, we will reach out to you if there is an opening. You are welcome to let us know of continued interest every 12 months. We will make note of your interest. You may also reach out directly to matthew@larcheatlanta.org.
