The Role of an Assistant

At L’Arche Atlanta, all employees work together to build a community rooted in dignity and respect. Assistants play a vital role by providing direct, daily support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (core members). In this caregiving role, you will guide core members toward their personal life goals while assisting with daily living, financial management, medical care, and transportation. Beyond daily care, Assistants maintain our L’Arche homes and joyfully participate in the rhythms of shared life—including cooking, celebrating milestones, engaging in physical activity, and spending time in prayer.
